Prorogation of Parliament

Prorogation is the formal name for the suspending of Parliament at the end of a parliamentary session before the state opening of Parliament and Queen’s Speech that begin the next session. Parliament was prorogued at the end of Monday’s (9 September 2019’s) sitting and will not return until 14 October.

Concerned About School Funding

On Tuesday (3 September 2019), the Education Secretary made a statement confirming a commitment to give an extra £14 billion to schools across England over the next three years. He outlined that this includes a cash increase, compared with 2019-20, of £2.6 billion to core schools funding next year, with increases of £4.8 billion and £7.1 billion in 2021-22 and 2022-23.
